16 lessons learned in 2016

I am sitting here thinking about the amazing lessons I have learned through High School. I have learned how to use a calculator, good tips on the ACT, what exact time to leave to go to school so I am not late, how fast I can get ready so I can sleep more, what's the best places for lunch, or how to procrastinate till the last minute. Even though those are great lessons to learn, I have realized that the best lessons I have learned aren't shown on a report card.

1. Parents know what is best. Listen to them and tell them everything.
2. Comparison can destroy you. Don't let it. Find what makes you beautiful.
3. Finding the right friends is crucial!! Find friends who make you want to be better.
4. Find plenty of time to goof off in the car with your friends and sing to your favorite songs.
5. Have a healthy relationship with yourself! It's a lot harder said then done but, rely on yourself to find happiness not likes/comments on instagram.
6. If a boy doesn't treat you with respect, he doesn't deserve you
7. My best friend through it all has been Christ. Go to him and let out all of your problems. He loves to hear about your day.
8. Simple acts of kindness go a long way. Find people to serve and you will realize that you will have people helping you during your hardest trials.
9. Put yourself out there. Try different things. I was on the Cheer team, an officer, and in a play. All random things but, you will meet new people and learn more about yourself.
10. A smile can make someones day. I had a guy give me a piece of paper the other day when I was leaving that said something like, "Thanks for smiling at me today" It made me realize how a smile can affect someones life.
11. While going through a hard time, think of what you can learn and grow from it. It makes it a lot easier.
12. Hard work will pay off!
13. ALWAYS do extra credit if teachers offer it. Even if you have 100% in a class.
14. Parking can be crazy! It's like the hunger games to just get a pass. Prepare mentally.
15. Use seminary to help you feel peace throughout your day. I had it right in the morning and learned that it made my day so much better and made me calmer on test days.
16. High School is a roller coaster of emotions. Find little ways to enjoy the ride and love it because it ends faster then you think.
